WORLD-CLASS MATHEMATICS
A 21st Century Learning Approach
“Singapore Mathematics” is globally acknowledged as one of the most effective method of teaching mathematics in schools, simply because Singapore students have consistently performed extremely well in International Assessments such as TIMSS and PISA.
One key factor is the way mathematics are being taught in the classroom. In this seminar held by the English Department, Widya Mandala Catholic University Surabaya, Dr. Yeap will share with teachers the effective methodology framework and examples of application of this methodology in class. Dr. Yeap will share insights on how the CPA Approach, Bar Modeling, etc. are effective approaches to develop effective problem-solving skills among primary school children.
Speaker: Dr. Yeap Ban HarAs an experienced educator, Dr. Yeap Ban Har spent ten years at the National Institute of Education, Singapore, where he was involved in several funded research programs in mathematics education, and Mathematics and Curriculum Studies in Primary and Secondary Maths. He works regularly in collaboration with the Curriculum Planning and Development Division of the Ministry of Education Singapore, and he was part of a team which reviewed the Singapore Maths curriculum for the revised 2013 syllabus.
