Event Report – English Department CARNAVAL

English Department working together with Domingo, the Spanish intern, had just held a super cool event called “ English Department Carnaval”. This event was held on Wednesday, March 30th, 2016. Taking place in the Auditorium of the Kalijudan campus, this event involved mostly the students from Speaking 1 class and some from upper semester.

The students were asked to perform individually and in groups and had to wear costumes with unique and interesting themes to be scored. Later on, six winners, three individual performances and three best groups, would be announced. Eight groups were giving their best efforts in doing catwalk and performance. Everyone was doing the best to amaze the audience and judges. They showed it in their runway. For example, one of the groups, Gloomy Sunday, delivered the audience the thrilling atmosphere through their spooky runway. Moreover, they wore spooky make-ups, which was done by one of the students, the talented Ammyersen, and made scary gestures. For their effort, they had achieved the First Best Group.

There were two different winner categories, namely Best Individual Performance and Best Group Performance. The juries who were the Speaking 1 lecturers decided the followings as the winners.The three Best Individual Performances (best effort) are Yustina Siagian, Ammyersen Sinaga, and Christyo Ekaputra. As for the Best Group Performance, the first winner is Gloomy Sunday, second winner is Spooky House, and the thierd winner goes to Security Guard. This kind of event not only brings joy to the students but also brings new sensation of experiencing another foreign culture specifically the Spanish one. In addition, by participating in such event the students can improve their English language competence.

What an interesting event! We haven’t experienced something like this before. I hope the Department develops this event bigger than today’s

This is a good event. We can see the costume party, the hidden talent, and we can see how nice the costume party event.
