Self-Access Centre (SAC)
The Self-Access Centre (SAC) fosters students’ self-directed study strategies to supplement in-class learning, particularly in mastering English grammar. Students study independently choosing from various resources available in the SAC
Students and staff are also welcome to use SAC rooms specifically designed for different types of learning activities (Tutorial Room, Reading Room, Discussion Room, Audio-Visual Room and Movie Room). To facilitate students’ learning, SAC counselors are always available for advice, tutorials and technical help.

08:30 – 14:30 Monday – Friday
08:00 – 12:00 Saturday
Facilities
– Books for practicing grammar and building vocabulary, and for leisure reading and exam preparation
– Worksheets for all levels and dictionaries
– Language game boards and multimedia computer programs
– Films, documentaries, course videos, and audio recordings
– Newspapers and satellite TV
Programs
As an extension to independent study, tohelp students continue developing their language skills outside the classroom, SAC offers several educational programs, such as:
Individual Tutorial Program and Enrichment Sessions
These programs provide students with tutor or instructor guidance for completing enrichment and remedial exercises for Structure courses.
Speaking Club
The Speaking Club is held regularly providing opportunities for students to apply their English oral proficiency through various creative, fun, and enjoyable speaking activities. Mini-excursions, language games, cooking tutorials and video-viewing are some of the activities done during club meetings.
Cultural Celebrations
To provide creative outlets for language practice and to get immersed in the spirit of both eastern and western cultural celebrations, the SAC organizes festive events for students to join, such as:
– Toy Story Easter Celebration
– SAC’s Spooktacular Halloween Celebration
– Thanksgiving Feast and Food Decorating Competition
– Secret Santa
– Lunar New Year and Valentine’s Day Celebration (Month of Love and Prosperity)
– Recycled Easter Ornaments Exhibition
Interactive Board and News of the World
As a means of visual reinforcements and peripheral learning, SAC’s Interactive Boards includes articles, facts and interactive activities, such as riddles, trivia questions or puzzles, posted on the bulletin board for students to read. To get acquainted and updated with current or upcoming events happening worldwide, students can enjoy reading SAC’s regularly posted News of the World.
